Wow I'm so amazed and pleased this post has surfaced again... Its my very first here in POTN.
Getting back to topic, Firstly, many thanks to Joelham for digging this out of the lot and viewing; The conversion...it was quite some time back... If I remember correctly, I did the conversion using the Gradient Map along with Levels/Curves. I wasn't too familiar with dodging and burning back then, hence the lost details in the shadows, Jim, Thanks for viewing and commenting, I fully agree with you about the shadows. I really should get back to re-doing this image. Its one of the few shots I'm proud of. I know the original image wasn't anywhere near good but I was very pleased with my capture.
Thanks a lot Doug, I'm working on it :)

While I'm not into that "gritty look" that is in vogue, I do recogonize that you have a superior "eye",
not only for the shot, but where to take it in PP.

It sure was just an average colour shot, if not less. Thanks a tonne for viewing and commenting!

This photo is a remarkable character study. I don't think you should lighten the shadows as this will detract from the mood. I think you got it just right. Enter it into some contests and find out. Great work!
EDIT: SUBMIT it to the POTN BOOK VOLUME 3.
