I usually use the "I'll use it more than the purse you just bought sitting in the closet" or "At least my camera stuff fits in a bag, not two entire closets".

When that fails and she gets mad there's always the Sorry Card and if that fails I have to resort to the Get Out Of Jail Free cards when Sorry just isn't good enough.

Remember always...

And boy are some things expensive!

My own favourite is

"It won't cost that much as I'll sell the old ones when I am happy that the new ones work OK"

So far have avoided being locked into timescales for completing evaluation

"I can get it $200 cheaper with eBay and cashback"

That one is sure to work!
