What did you Google Geoff? (I sometimes think Google takes some of the fun out of this game, taking away reasoning and substituting Googling skills)

Reasoning and search skills go hand in hand... that's how you figure out what to search for.....

What I mean, Monty, is that, once you know that, for instance, a church with a crooked spire is in Britain, you simply Google 'church crooked spire Britain' and trawl through the images it throws up. I know that some WAIN-ers spend perhaps hours searching through images. Personally, I don't work like that (too lazy perhaps). Still, chacun a son gout.

I don't either... if it's not on the first couple of pages I refine my reasoning.

My way is very similar, but if it isn't on the first couple of pages, I give up! :D

Slightly OT...Has anyone else notice the annoying photos of Wayne Huzzey on Flickr? That dude takes 50 (slight exaggeration) of the same shot an posts them ALL on his flickr page! He drives me crazy!!!

P.S. Apology's if any of you are Wayne...but friggin' cull the herd man!

Ahhh, I feel so much better.

Wow, Dejavu.....

OK, this Wayne Huzzey guy is driving me absolutely mad. He copy and pastes entire pages from Wikipedia to every image he posts on Flickr. I have had hundreds of his shots come up on searches for things that are not even in the same hemisphere as to what his images show. Every time I search for anything in England, I get hundreds or thousands of his junk to sort through. What ever happened to sorting through you images and only posting the best ones, and then only adding relevant information on each shot, not a copy and paste of a Wiki page describing everything in the county?

Should a search of "england+centre+stocks" really come up with this image, and 400 others like it?

Enough of my rant, back to the game!

What did you Google Geoff? (I sometimes think Google takes some of the fun out of this game, taking away reasoning and substituting Googling skills)

In this case it was really a shot in the dark "howitzer memorial england": http://images.google.com …ngland&btnG=Search+Images (external link)

Sometimes Google really enables you to quickly follow a hunch; that's fun. A bunch of games ago we had a shot of one of the beaches used in the Normady invasion. There were some objects sitting out in the water that I thought might be remnants of the temporary harbors used in the invasion. A couple of quick searches and I was able to verify the hypothesis.

Cheers,

Geoff S.

Thanks Geoff. That's more interesting due to the fact that it was I who posted the shot of the Normandy beaches! :)

I thought it was you, but didn't have the time to look it up. :o

I have to admit that doing the research for this game is really probably the most fun part of the experience. For the Normandy shot, I learned quite a bit about the details of the invasion.

OK, this was taken more as a "what", but it might be interesting to see if anyone can figure out "where".

Bonus points for "when".
