Hi everyone, I've got a question for you!
Do you keep the high tone priority turned ON or OFF? Other than reducing the iso range from 200 to 3200, does it affect IQ/noise at high ISO or anything like that?
thanks!

Ha! I was thinking the same thing. Great shots there LooserCanon.
Really like the coast shot.

Lovely captures Stefano!
Really shows how much detail the 50D can deliver.
I was amazed when I moved up from the 20D.

Tim

Let's see some more!

Hey, turn it off/disable.
It's an attempt towards in camera HDR and basically just introduces more noise.
You are better off dealing with high dynamic range in post processing.
One can always play with it though.
I don't know other peoples experience, perhaps others could chime in.

[QUOTE=Ylwstone;8908658]A few to bump us back to the first page.

1/800s f/6.3 at 700.0mm iso400

The next two were with a Canon 10-22 and I almost always shoot it at f/8 and ISO100 at 10mm

Also:( you may be doing this already..or disagree.)
Shoot RAW

In the camera I suggest you:
in Custom function II
1. Turn off the AutoLight Optimizer
2. Disable the high tone priority
3. Set the high ISO NR to low or disable

In the DPP preferences I set the Noise reduction defaults to 0 and 0.
Then do any NR in a third party software.

I've heard folks getting good results from Lightroom3 beta as well.

For what it's worth. :D

Thanks Benee! :D
You are a remarkably cultured person with refined taste.
Truly an asset to society and I’m sure you are dang fine looking as well.
In short, you rock.

More picture folks!
Let’s see what a 50D can do.

I would like to see some portraits and shallow depth of field shots with
technical suggestions if people have them. I truely suck at that.
But anything would be swell.
Thanks,
Tim
