UPS brought mine yesterday. Big difference in heft from my former 450D.

No pics yet, still studying and it is raining all day. Tomorrow hopefully.

Congrats new owners! Just handled one today and finished reading every ounce of the www.dpreview.com (external link) review of the 50D. Picked the brain of a fellow POTNer too. I'm sold.

Liquidating an investment because I found a price for the 50D & 15-85mm I could not pass up... stay tuned.

What am I looking for in Compact Flash for speed and quality at a reasonable price?

Glad you could see above all the negative opinions the 50D generated early on Digipanther. It's truly a nice camera with little to complain about.

Test the latest Lightroom 3 Beta 2 (external link) for really superior image quality.

hey - its lensmen! Nice reunion. From the old SX10 days, yes??

Good luck in your lens getting. The 15/17-85mm focal length should be a nice walk-around.

One day, when I'm living in some enchanted Kingdom in some far-away land, I'll hope to acquire the 100-400mm f/5.6 L. I like my 70-300mm but too often its not reaching far enough for the shots I love to do.

Anyways! Good to see you. My 50D+ process had been initiated!

Sure do .

I actually had the 70-300mm USM for a brief while and did not really get used to it. Got the 100-400L for sunbird shots. There are times when I wish the japanese can make quality stuff sans the weight (this is no BMW I am buying, where you need weight to be stable).

look forward to sharing the weekend shots albums with you soon.

Define reasonable? You can get the sandisk 32gb extreme (400x) for around $200 now, and the smaller and lesser cards such as the extreme III and IV even cheaper.

Just wanted to be pointed in a direction, been using SD for 4 yrs and I need CF for the 50D. I'm sure a few 4 or 8gb's will suit my needs.

what write speed is adequate for the 50D shooting Raw?

I have 4 CF cards 2 http://www.bhphotovideo.com …_CompactFlash_Memory.html (external link) for normal use and 2 http://www.bhphotovideo.com …ofessional_UDMA_600x.html (external link) for sports when I need really fast write speeds for big highspeed continuous bursts.

i have 1 sandisk 8gb 60mb/s, 2 sandisk 8gb 30/mbs, 1 4gb 15/mbs. i use the 8gb 60 mb/s one all the time as my first card then move to the other 8gb cards and have yet to need the 4gb card. i have so far used it as planned and it is my back up to my back ups. i can get 320-410 raw shots on a 8gb card depending on focal length. i have shot over 1200 in one day and still only used the 3 cards. That to me is a lot of shooting, but at least i know i can get another 150-200 shots out of the 4gb i have waiting.
