It's apparently a known bug if you're importing your images via Windows Explorer in either XP or Win7 (not sure which, or maybe both). Try using a card reader and/or DPP/Lightroom to import your images instead, see if that cures it. (I'm on a Mac, so can't try it for myself to see.) I am importing it to XP through the camera directly to a folder, so this very well may be a clue, Thanks http://papkephotography.com/

I had an Xt that did things correct on this setting hence my confusion. Thank you for trying to help me sort it out. OK Astro, here it goes: BoKo

Immaculens creeped by the TF.... More info | Jul 28, 2010 18:02 | #6010 I just looked in the settings and you can have it set to: RAW-Shooter wrote in post #10620325 OK Astro, here it goes: I set my 50D to RAW+JPG. In the camera menu it shows: RAW 15M 4752x3168 x 15M 4752x3168 (Largest RAW + Largest JPG) I took a picture and the camera created 2 files as expected. I checked the files on the CF card in the card reader: RAW: 20,553 KB JPG: 5,831 KB I then imported the files as I usually do, using Canon utility: RAW: 21,045 KB JPG: 5,970 KB All that makes sense to me. The Canon utility adds about 1KB to the picture - Camera serial#, Copyright info and some other proprietary stuff. In other words, I have no idea what your problem could be. Sorry.

And that is what i would expect too. I normally go straight from camera to folder though which was said earlier to be a known issue, so once I get home from work I plan to try that. Thank you all for helping me track this down, will let you know my results tonight. Betting if it works as expected on the 50D, my 450D will follow suit and work as well. http://papkephotography.com/

This got it, I used the EOS utility to offload them and got the desired result. Thanks all for putting up with me on this one the last few days http://papkephotography.com/

I have the Sigma 17-70 and Canon 70-300IS does anybody know what the 50D is like with these lens as I would hate to buy the body then not be able to get the best out of it because I can't afford an L lens yet? Thanks ![]() Sounds like you're listening to gear collectors instead of photographers.
