Ok, havent held an XS since buying the 50D a month or so ago, and while in Best Buy, I picked it up to go down memory lane and WTF? It felt so small, and the build was sub-par. Not complaining, as the XS was my first slr, and it got me beautiful images...but to have held the 50D and used it, and to hold the XS..light years apart..

I had a similar experience when after several fashion shoots I detached the battery grip from the 50d and suddenly realized that it's pretty small.

Almost an scary feeling using the battery grip so much that it has become a part of the camera. I have the canon handstrap aswell and not using it actually had me dropping the camera twice during a news shoot. Luckily still hanging around my shoulder.

I had the same feelings when I tried to use my Rebel Xt after having the 50D for a while. I've since sold the rebel and picked up a 40D as a second body, lol.

I still have my XTi, which is a great camera and has taken many a fine picture. But I haven't used it since I got the 50D... and it's going on a year and a half.

In fact, EOS 50D is the last real heavy-duty prosumer body made by Canon.

EOS 7D is very close to pro bodies and needs great deal of understanding in order to exploit its full potential.

Therefore, enthusiasts wanting to upgrade should try finding 50D bodies while they are still around. Most of the registered dealers do not get it any more from Canon. However, many general retailers still possess it in their stocks.

I have the same sentiment. I upgraded from the XTi as well, and now I am absolutely loving my 50D when paired with my Speedlite and 50mm f/1.4. I don't see myself changing bodies for an extremely long time!
