Took this a few months back playing around with pp and for some reason fell in love with this version.

I have the same sentiment. I upgraded from the XTi as well, and now I am absolutely loving my 50D when paired with my Speedlite and 50mm f/1.4. I don't see myself changing bodies for an extremely long time!

It's always good to have 2 bodies; one can malfunction any time u never know.

I have 450D and 50D and use both. The first one for landscape shots with its 12mp resolution for all the details I need.

And 50D, with its fast focus, 6.3 burst, 1/8000 TV and 3200 ISO for all my wildlife shots including action. I use it at sRAW1 in order to get more space on the card and burst also seems more sustainable.:D

EOS 50D at its best:

Unfortunately, I'm a student with plans for grad school, so having two bodies is a bit unfriendly on my budget. I'm also not a professional (All the photography I do is for fun), so I can stand to have a malfunction, as unhappy as I may be if it occurs.

I just have to point it out. Seems like alot of people like to use the grip with the 50d... Me included.

Is it just because it feels so darn good or do people actually need the longer battery time? Saved my ass when I forgot the charger for a photo trip. Fed it with six sets of AA's so I could keep on shooting.

I've come to the conclusion, that my hand size just seem to be more of a 1D style than anything, so I prefer my grip solely for that.

At the moment I'm trying to use my 50D without the grip, as I'm planing on traveling light and thus no grip, but everytime I pick it up, it just seems like my hand isn't fitted for the camera.

I use my 50D primarily for backup and for traveling light for trips or family stuff. I've never put the grip on it. After using my gripped 5D or, especially my 1DMkII, my 50D feel so tiny!

Nope don't like the grip. I shoot weddings and the camera becomes heavy while shooting all day long.

I haven't taken the grip off of my 50D since I got the grip. I don't mind the weight, as it balances bigger lenses well, and with my 100-400, the extra weight of the grip doesn't make much difference. I have the grip for 2 purposes. 1, I have large hands, so it's easier to handle with the grip, and 2, extra battery life is a wonderful thing.

Beautiful photo I love it! I am just getting acquainted with my new 50d and so far wow! I am saving for the 70-200 F2.8. So for now I am using my 24-105 which works nicely to.:)
