Is it really that good of a deal that you want to risk it?

Read some of the sticky threads here in the Market Watch section. They'll be able to give you information regarding risks.

Basically, you won't get much in the way of protection from paypal - your protection is based on your payment method.

I'll give you this bit of advice...if you pay somebody through PayPal, always fund through a CreditCard, and NOT a bank account.

If the seller ends up screwing you, you can call up the credit card company and have a "chargeback" issued. You basically explain the situation to the CC company, and they take the money back from PayPal pending the investigation to your claim. If your credit company finds in your favor, you will not have to pay the crook that took your money.

I have dealt with PayPal before, and I don't want to turn this into a rant, but PayPal will leave you up ****'s creek without a paddle.

EXACTLY what I was going to say. NEVER pay for a big-ticket item through paypal with either available funds or from a bank account. Drain your Paypal balance and use a credit card for the funding. I've had 3 different issues with deadbeat sellers over the years. In all 3 instances Paypal has failed to get me my money back, and in all 3 instances, my CC company did get me my money back. If I'd used a non-CC payment type, I'd have lost the money each time.

hmmm I haven't had a problem with losing money with Paypal, and I have had to dispute a couple items... however, I haven't bought any big ticket item using Paypal, much less from out of the country. But yeah I would take a long hard look at that deal and probably decide to do something else, but that's my opinion.
