Thanks Jay.

So, when are you going to be showing off your work with the new strobes?

Just as soon as I get control of my own life again... :(

Good. It will be nice to have you around more.

Thanks to Hatch for getting me off my butt and putting one into B&W.

Work is getting in the way of my social life.... that and the fact that lately I have been going to bed earlier than usual. I'm sleepy this week...

Brian... cool shots. They really work well! :) Chopped heads are a-okay in my book. Lots of amazing work out there with overexposed images.. it's the latest trend in kid photography... I can't bring myself to completely get there.. but the stuff I've seen is pretty cool.... I'm plain Jane. LOL...

The B&W are good, but personally, I'd add a little more shadow to them, or just bump the blacks in the black channel to make them a little more defined... And I can't belive that you actually bought the boy a NEW SHIRT! Wowza! ;) He is such a cute little kid.. You must have fun shooting him, when he isn't running away... Bribery goes a loooong way for the photog parent. lol...

Welcome new guys... I have to look back to find your names... duh....? I did peek at your gallery... Ryan, Hatch, you and I are all on the same side of town.. I think there is one more person too... We are the "West Side Gang"..... watch out for us... and ..... We are not as far to Blythe as you New Mexico residents might guess....

My dog is a killer... (and every night she lies on the tile behind my chair) just ask Hatch... She's afraid of people... so she barks and hides in her crate... but when it's just us... she has LOTS of fun.. my attempt to shoot action (I would fail as a sports photog to say the least)

Hey Kristy,

I don't mind it at all. :) It's a good edit.

I was playing around with the images and seeing how they looked best in B&W, and I couldn't decide. They looked great even more blown out, darker, less contrast, more contrast, gold tint, blue tint, etc that I just couldn't decide.

BTW, nice puppy shots. Such a happy dog.

Hey everyone!
Yesterday was my birthday and can I say I have the best husband? I got the 50 1.4 and hood! Yeah!!
My brother and his girlfriend came down to visit for the weekend too so I had a great birthday. We're going to the fair today and I'm taking my new toy with me. Anything special I should know before playing?
Hope you all have a great weekend.

Hmmm... well, you could give it to me so I can test it out for you. You know, make sure it's in good working order. Wouldn't want you to find that out for yourself............:D;)

Congrats! On the birthday and the new toy! :)

Kristy, those shots are great! My dog does the same thing. Jumps into the pool and then lays there with his nose in the water "looking" for something. I always assume it's stupidity... but who knows... maybe they are actually looking for something. ;)

Oh lame! I missed my 2000th post mark. :( Man....

B&W can be difficult sometimes.. especially on a white background, but your exposure works well on this shot. I did a curves adjustment to darken it some and then added the Mocha tint to the shadow. I always love my B&W images to have an expresso undertone.

She's a sketchy dog... afraid of almost every thing.. but happy when it's just our family... dumb dog.

.

Thanks Jeremy... dogs are fun to watch.. and I got lucky with these since I'm the worst when it comes to trying to shoot movement. Plus the exposures were all over the place due to the sun/shade mix... anyway, just fun snapshots to journal the day. :)

Congratulations on the new toy! :) I think you'll have fun... the only advice is that if you shoot wide open, make sure your focus is spot on and be prepared to have a learning curve at those wide aperatures... and also be prepared to get some amazing bokeh that you will fall in love with. :)

Woo Hoo!! Show us the pics....! :)
