You should have went to Imaging USA a couple of weeks ago and your postman would have not needed to deliver anything. The prices were good as well.

i have a Canon 420 EX & just got a 580 EX II. I got the new one so that I can put it with a better beamer for shooting birds. :)

i know that sometimes if you don't get a canon brand flash, the exif won't register that you have a flash mounted. i had that happen when i borrowed a vivitar flash for a flash hw assign and my instr kept asking why i my flash didn't go off. he got this light-bulb-went-off expression when i showed my flash to him. :p

I still can't figure out why Jeremy is bored..... We gotta get you more socialized off the internet... ;)

It's so funny how you are soooooo quiet in person... I'm going to draw out the extrovert in you if it kills me... :)

I wouldn't say that... you might be at it a while. :p lol

Ask Jeremy what he got.. His was only about $25 more and it does lots of cool things....

Except it pooped out on me. :(

Dunno which one Jeremy has but I use this one and it's great for time lapse work as well as pre-set timed exposures:

http://www.canogacamera.com/detail.aspx?ID=4709 (external link)

That comes with the camera, right? ;)

FlyingPhotog wrote in post #7188176 (external link)
No...

You can:
- Set interval between shots
- Number of shots to be taken (if you're in AEB this is handy)
- Duration of shot to be taken
- Combo of the above

It can also function as a simple locking shutter release for manually timed shots.

OOOOOH! That's real cool. Never even thought of that.

It really depends on how you want to use the flash. If you want the ETTL capabilities of the Canon systems then you'll need a Canon EX flash. If you are going to only use manual mode (you set the power of the flash) then a non-canon flash would work. I think there are some flashes (Sigma might have one) that would work with ETTL but not 100% sure.
Be careful with some non-Canon flashes make sure the flash voltage is compatible with your camera before placing it on your hot shoe. (This was big issue a few years ago, so the manufacturers may have sorted it all out but check to be sure).

thanks for the heads up. I would have went and gotten a different brand flash. I just need to get a flash to help out with night shots at the track. Not sure which way to go with the flash for that. I posted up in the motorsport section but didnt get anywhere really.

Yes Steve, you're right that Sigma has a flash that is compatible with ETTL, however, it's not as good as the Canon. I originally purchased the Sigma but ended up upgrading to the Canon 430 before very long. It has a longer range and more control on the flash unit itself, which can be very helpful. That said, there is quite a learning curve to using these things I've found. Someone else might know, does the 580 EX have an even longer range? If you're working on a track I would assume you want the longest range you can get.

So I just checked out the watermark tutorial. Really, is it only a brush? I thought there was some kind of embedding technique. I know there's a watermark function in PS but I hadn't figured out how to use it.
