How do you guys expose for guys with bald heads? Hatch... how do you do it?

You need to have an assistant to hold a diffusion panel while outdoors.... if you want to take advantage of the full on sun. :)

Very nice shots Dean!!!

Hey Gerry! That looks good. Bibble Pro huh? I've never heard of it. Who's it made by?

It's by Bibble Labs. www.bibblelabs.com (external link)
Found it here and elsewhere when looking for a fast raw converter. It's a workflow tool with lots of powerful plug ins, and IMHO so far i find it easier to work with than Photoshop, or Lightroom.

You're welcome. I had been using Breezebrowser instead of Zoombrowser for my G3, and once I got the 40D, it did not support the new camera. I tried DPP, but found it to be lacking too.
There are video tutorials on line, and you can download a trial version. Don't try the Bibble 5 preview yet, as it's just that, and preview, and no where as stable as the released version. Good Luck!

Geezus.........How did this thread get to almost 600 pages so fast?

Anyway, I pulled the trigger on this stuff tonight:

Canon CA7020028LIS
Zoom Telephoto EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Autofocus Lens USA

Hoya HOUVMC77
77mm Ultraviolet UV(0) Haze Multi-Coated Glass Filter

Tamrac TA5586B
5586 Expedition 6x Backpack (Black)

I was close to buying either a 5D M2 or 1D M3, but decided that can wait a little longer.

I've been shooting sports for the last couple of years for Greenway HS just to gain experience. This year the basketball team went (and won) the 4AII championship. I've put together a poster as an idea for them to use for the coaches. What'd you think?

Jeremy - I like your shots - I think you did better than I would have done. By the way, that's not a forehead...that's a FIVE head. :p

Went out to the Gilbert Riparian Preserve this morning. Didn't really get anything spectacular. There were big groups of noisy kids and seems like every time I got close to something interesting it would be scared away. I really need to get there earlier.

Anyhow, got a couple I like alright. The GBH let me get relatively close a few times, but I had a hard time with the exposure (operator error).

My buddy let me borrow his high-dollar 70-200 2.8 VR (IS to you all) lens and TC, but other than it being faster, I don't think it's any sharper than my 70-300 VR. That lens cost 25% as much as weighs a fraction of the 2.8. Just made that much more happy with my purchase.

These first four with the $2,000 70-200 2.8 VR

These last three with my $500 70-300 VR (same lens I use for motorcycles)

Straight out of the camera:

Very nice work Dean. This is the tpe shooting Nancy and I like to do so know how challenging it can be. We haven't been to the water park yet this winter. Looks like the birds have come back. I really lik the last 4 shots.

Guerry

Thanks for Looking, Guerry :)

And Kristy hasn't see them yet... that I know of. She's gone AWOL.

Busy day yesterday.... ;) Hey Jeremy... send me your top 3 on e-mail and I do a little editing for ya... ;)

I agree to back off on the skin.... easily overdone.. and tighten up the crop..

When showing the proofs, try to narrow it down to not more than maybe 50 of your "best" shots... otherwise they can be overwhelmed.

I'll peek at you link later today... I'll be busy for a few hours at the moment...

I like the poster idea... would be cool thing to sell to the kids and the school. :)

@ Dean... Great shots from yesterday..... :) I love the little bunny especially... so cute. :)

Off and running....

Great Poster Ed! I recognize a few guys from that one game i saw :-P 34 had the team high points and 42 really carried the ball well as point. just a thought but think you could clone that sign from the top middle of the team pic? just a thought. I like the gradient that you used too. have you thought about outlining the team pic in yellow as well? anyways, nice work. such a great season for them.

It's always a work-in-progress. I removed the sign and some of the stuff on the right side. Do you I should try getting the tellow in the middle out? Thanks for the input?

Wildflower info from Az Central.com

Although the weather hasn't set the stage for a banner wildflower year in Arizona, the flowers are blooming in some parts of the state and are expected to sprout up in other spots.

"This won't be a season of vast carpets of color, but if you like wildflowers, you're going to find them," said Russ Buhrow, curator of plants at Tohono Chul Park, a botanical garden in Tucson. "It's a matter of knowing where to look."

The White Tank and the Superstition Mountains in the Phoenix area, Saguaro National Park near Tucson and desert areas around Yuma are currently in bloom with purple, pink, yellow and white wildflowers.
Steve Jakubowski, assistant manager at Lost Dutchman State Park east of Phoenix, said the wildflowers at the Superstition Mountains are spotty.

"There are some nice areas, but it's not a real intense bloom as previous years," he said. "Last year we had flowers come out in January and they lasted quite a while."

Jakubowski said the better the wildflower season, the more visitors the park gets. "Last year at this time we probably would have 25 to 30 percent more visitors than we're seeing right now," he said.

It's a similar story Tohono Chul Park.

"Some places will have next to nothing in the way of blooms, and there are other places where the wildflowers are going to be pretty good," said Russ Buhrow, curator of plants at the park.

The irregularity of this year's bloom stems largely from the fact that autumn rainfall - a critical factor in the germination of wildflowers - was widely varied.

At Catalina State Park northeast of Tucson, roads and trails should lead visitors to a sort of sampler of blooms, park manager Neil Donkersley said.

"In a year with a typical bloom, we're not known for big shows of any particular flower, but we get a lot of variety," Donkersley said. "People can expect poppies, globemallow, fairy duster, lupines, desert marigolds, filaree and other species."

I can tell you... I've been to the White Tanks the past two weekends... the only thing out there which is blooming is a few yellow flowers on the sides of the road and scattered purple flowers. No poppies... I'm thinking another couple of weeks if it happens at all this year.
