Chances of that are slim and it's worth the tiny risk to save £100.

£100...£100... :D

For outdoor landscapes, I have found the tokina 11-16 to be less desirable than the canon 10-22.

For one thing, the 10-22 is wider. Significantly wider.
Step back? Sometimes you can, sometimes you can't.
Also, when getting a really cool ultra-wide perspective closeup, the Canon is much better for the task as it's min focus distance is significantly closer. I do this a lot when shooting outdoor landscapes.
You also usually stop down for landscapes anyhow, so image quality is less of a concern.

But the BIGGEST reason I use the Canon 10-22 outside is that the canon is much better (not just a bit... a LOT) at controlling flare. If you like using backlighting, shooting sunset/sunrises, anything that has the sun in or close to the edge of the frame, the tokina flares much more easily than the canon causing huge contrast loss.

That's why I have both and keep both. The tokina is awesome for indoor work. The canon is awesome for outdoors.

You can't be looking very far.

Onestop Digital (external link) £346 delivered, with tax/duty rebate service.

In the interests of balance, here's a link to the Canon 10-22 (external link) as well. That's under £400.

I want UK stock.....

That's a bit unnecessary, really, and you're asking the impossible if you want U.K. stock at that kind of price, but you won't get any hassle or lose out by importing a good quality bit of kit from that supplier. Onestop has a deservedly good rep.

Maybe but if I do get a rubbish copy I still have to send it back to HK......

Does anyone know the implications of a 'Canon International Warranty'? Will Canon UK fix/service should there be any problems?

These are excellent points and are the reason that i went for the 10-22. I was very tempted by the sharpness and aperture of the tokina however the difference in MFD was what finally made my mind up.

I would sorely miss the range of my 10-22. I use the thing as a walk around lens quite often.

If you must know...

Well, I have the Tokina now and its a very nice lens.
This is why I'm considering sending it back and getting the 10-22:
Most of my shots will be at the widest and the canon is 1mm wider.
Most of my shots will be Landscapes where I will stop down.
The MFD on the Canon is WAY closer than the Tokina.
The range of the canon is better. 11-16 is pretty silly.

This is why I may keep the Tokina:
2.8, I may need it, you never know.
It comes with a hood. (shame on you Canon)
Its sharper.
Its $140 cheaper.

decisions, decisions, decisions...........

Another vote for the 10-22. I love the range and would feel very limited by only having an 11-16 even with the 2.8.

So what did you end up doing? I'm giving the Tokina 11-16 a really serious look for some night aurora & nightscape shots. Just curious which lens you ended up with and why.

Honestly, I've used both lenses and the Tokina is the best IMO.

The only thing I don't like about the Tokina is the reversed zoom, but I can adapt to that.
