Digital XTI - Bent CF pins

Somehow some of the pins where I put in my CF card have bent. Any (cheap) suggestions on how to get it repaired and, is there any alternate ways to take pictures in the meantime? (It isn't under warranty anymore, either).

Thanks,
Jon

Welcome to the forums.

I'm watching this slip down the threads so I'm bumping it for you as I'm sure someone may be able to suggest something.

I doubt, unfortunately, that there will be any straight forward way of trying to fix bent pins in you CF slot.

Maybe someone knows the price of the repair.

Canon 5D and a few nice lenses. Sony RX100 is there too! :)

Disassemble the camera, see if you can get direct access to the pins, then using a toothpick or something solid and non-conductive, individually bend the pins square, then push a memory card on them to make sure the pins are straight and then leave it in.

I had to fix a friend's card reader like this once...

Canon 40D 10-22mm 24-105L 580 EX II
Canon IIIA LTM Serenar 28mm 3.5
Serenar 50mm 1.8
Leica IIIf RD ST LTM Elmar 50mm 3.5
Nikkor 50mm 1.4
Kodak Brownie No 2
:P

I had one pin bent (not completely folded down to 90 degrees) on my camera, once.
To 'pull' it back up, I'd used a bamboo chopstick (the ones that came with oriental take-out foods). Once pulled up, I used the throat of a mechanical 0.5 mm pencil (remove the lead(s)) - to straightened the pin. Work at your pace and don't rush, hope this helps.
