Hey guys,

C&C Welcome!

Nothing much done to this photo..I only played with curves, levels, saturation, contrast and sharpen after resize. I know the composition isn't the best, but it's one of my favorites that I have take of him :).

EDIT: Now that I look at it, it looks noisy. Is anyone else seeing the same?

Thanks!

unfortunately the pic seems to be suffering from camera shake, as the whole scene has a bit of movement in it. the noise is minimal and could be reduced but its hard to reduce motion blur

I shot at 1/60 at 55mm. Should I have shot with a higher shutter speed? Oh and one more thing..what would cause the noise? This was shot at ISO 200. Is that a consequence of the PP?

Thanks!

if you shot jpeg and oversharpened it and added to much saturation, that could have casued the noise...

raw wont save you from motion blur... practice your shooting techniques before you spend more cash

Well, either way I need a bigger CF card..my 2GB barely holds what I need!..I tried to shoot at a lower ISO so I didn't have too much noise..so now I have motion blur..I rather have noise than motion blur. Guess that'll teach me to try and have the least amount of noise as possible straight from the camera.

if you underexpose your shot you will get more noise than if it is properly exposed... is your original darker than this? if so that is probably your issue.

It was underexposed a little. I tried to raise the brightness using curves and a layer mask on my son and it didn't seem as though it was a drastic change. I will try and post the original when I get home and see if anyone might have better luck brightening him.

Thanks for the comments!

...he's cute, I think its a shot you can add to the family book!
I use to have some problems with blur when I shoot in lower ISO, try keeping your arms closer to your body when shooting, this way you can squeeze your elbows into your chest a little..... worked wonders for me!
keep shooting, you can only improve.

Thanks for the comment! His mom thinks it's time we cut his hair, but I dunno..what do you guys think? haha This was one of my favorite shots of him, but now that I see the motion blur I wish I would have shot at a higher ISO and faster shutter speed. Thanks for the pointer! I never try that, but will give it a shot!
