I have seen these youngsters twice within a week (maybe not the same group) this fall. They are on a stop over coming down from way up north on their way to southern coasts as far down as Chile and Argentina. This is my first experience photographing shore birds and thankfully these sanderlings are pretty cooperative.:D

Nice shots, Michele! It looks like you got pretty close. I like the DOF in the first.

It looks like you shot this in the Golden Hours as the light is just right and you did a magnificent job in NAILING the exposure too IMO...

I like the shots a lot!;)

Thanks much Carl and Roland. Your kind comments are appreciated. When the birds flew in they were actually dead smack into the rising sun. I had to double back around them and approach in military crawl style to shoot them front lit. They did let me get pretty close:)

Nice photos Michelle, these birds are a joy to watch and photograph, and are fairly cooperative! well done.

Great work Michele. A fellow sand crawler. :D Not sure if those pebbles are better or worse than the broken shells I'm used to, ouch.

The Sandies are a curious bird. Seems once I lay down they get relaxed and start checking me out.

It wasn't too bad. I was on regular sand up shore from the pebbles, which wasn't a great thing for my binos which in my haste I forgot were harnessed to my chest:oops:
