FYI, Schott glass are used in all B+W filters whether they are brass or alloy rings. Moreover, all B+W SLIM cpls are alloy not brass rings.

But...all brass rings, B+W or Heliopan, use Schott glass.

I suspect strongly that, with the ever increasing utilization of plastics in lens construction, that the issue of aluminum ring binding in aluminum threads is becoming less and less of an issue. I still use brass CPL filters in my BC (before Canon) lenses, sturdy all-metal barrels unlike the AF lenses and engineered plastics of today!

don't shatter the myths with the facts Wilt :D!

when in doubt spend more money .... just in case :D!

Yeah, well, sorry, I had to explain the reason that so many will state "this aluminum binding issue has never been a problem for me" :)

the only time that i had a filter bind was when i accidentally stacked my CPL onto a UV and what i did was put the stuck filters in my camera bag and came back to them later when i was in a more relaxed frame of mind and the filters separated :D.
