I picked up a 40D last spring and have been using it for soccer, landscapes, etc. I'd like to continue to try and shoot soccer through the fall (and maybe a few boy scout outings), but wonder about exposing it to the wonderfully wet weather we have around here.

What does everyone do when shooting outdoors during inclement weather? I'm thinking about some kind of wrap for the camera, not an umbrella.

Thanks in advance.

If I know I'll be out in the rain, I take my Kata E-702 rain covers. If it comes up unplanned, I keep OpTech Rainsleeves, plastic trash bags and $0.99 single-use ponchos in every bag. I've actually used the ponchos more than any of the other precautions. Air shows tend to stop if it's raining :{)#

With my 40d I used a plastic garbage bag with nice holes for the QR, Front element, and viewfinder. I plan on using nothing for my mark III unless it is SERIOUSLY bad, then back to the garbage bag

I used an Optech Rainsleeve at the beach this summer. They work great!

I have ponchos and I've used ziploc bags. I plan to get the Rainsleeve as with ziplocs you need something to make sure it fits the lenses. I've used rubber bands and such so I want something that I don't have to keep making them. :D

I spent a week in the Alaskan rain

According to the locals, it was the coldest and wettest July in memory.

I used a Kata 702 on my 40D with 17-55mm f.2.8 IS lens and used an OPTECH Rain Sleeve on my 30D with 70-200mm f/4L IS lens.

They both worked just fine but, the Kata is a lot more rugged than the Rainsleeve which is kind of a throw-away solution.
