On the road to Ulpha (what a great name) in the Lake District. I spotted this sign and thought "they're just begging for people to drive it." I managed to resist - I've got big tyres but the road clearnace isn't good! :)

You can't say they didn't warn you. We need a sign like that here on 80-94.

Damian, that's exactly 20.5 miles to where i call home.... and i can't say i've ever seen it, never mind tried it  ... next time i go home, i'm gonna try and find it ;-)a

Onto the photo... i like the signpost in the first one, but i think i would have tried a little post processing on the sky a simple duplicate the sky onto another layer and "multiply" would bring some contrast out?

Littlenose - your map may be a bit off - Surrey is more than 20.5 miles away! :) You are right about the sky - but this was a quick post job.

Julie and Pugdaddy - when I had an old banger of a car I used to head down these roads! I'm a bit more worried about damage these days! :)

Both the shots are really interesting. I think they might look cool in BW too.

When on vacation in Hawaii, the routes that were marked as restricted on the rental car map were where I headed for. Rented a Jeep of course.

I'd see this sign as a challenge, and would want to know what was down there!

Great catch on the sign. We've got a few roads like that here but they don't bother to warn you.

Thanks guys.

Of course, some would suggest that the M6 motorway needs a sign like this!

Not in California. There are tons of four wheel drive only roads around here. They're open and not many have warnings like this. Of course, I've driven plenty of them in my old Cavalier. I'm a little more reluctant to do that with the new car, though. :D

My first 22 years were spent in Whitehaven, so i guess it'll always be home to me... wish i'd had a healthy interest in photography back then
