Official Disney Parks Thread

Just been looking through this tread and ive seen some amazing shots.
I went to DW back in 2007 and 2009, with basic DSLR gear, but im going again in Feb and cant wait. going to leave my 5Dmkiii and L lenses at home and just take my 80D and 18-135 (and probably a prime).

Can i ask two questions?
When i went before i was doing child swap, so taking my camera bag on the rides was never a n issue, as i didnt need to. This time we will all go on the rides so...
1. Has anyone had anything damaged by taking a camera bag on the rides?
2. Is there a list of rides that DONT allow camera bags on? (talking about the bigger rides really).

Thanks for any replies, cant wait until next week and ill be sure to post some images when i get back.

IMO the 18-135 would be ideal for WDW. I know a lot of people here take a lot of gear and they get some great shots but for me I mostly want to capture family fun moments. I keep hearing how good the 18-135 STM is that I'm thinking of getting one. The extra reach would be fun to have in such a small package.

I just got back last week, I took my 5d2 24-70 F4 IS, 40STM, G15 and 270 flash. I only go out with 1 for the day.

To answer your questions
1- I never had an issue and I take pics while on the rides sometimes. I guess if you dropped it :-}
2 - I took my Mindshift gear side path on pretty much every ride in ( magic, epcot, mgm and AK ) with no issue.

I usually bring a hefty kit of gear (because I put my best effort documenting key memories for others, I should do the same for my family). I've never had a ride where I couldn't fit a backpack onto....including roller coasters.

Depending on how many days your going for many people devote one day to go 'all out' with pics and gear and the rest just enjoy the trip, but take minimal gear.

I'm pretty sure most of the larger rides like roller coaster will not allow a backpack. You have to put it in a locker outside the ride.

Nah I've brought bags on Rockin Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, Expedition Everest, California Screamin in DL etc etc. I've never been on a ride where I couldn't bring a bag/backpack. The only ride where I couldn't fit my bag into the compartment was soarin...but they instruct you to leave it on the ground, and it will be right back where you left it once the ride ends and the lift brings you back down to the ground.

Just got back from Disneyland last night from a couple day solo photo trip! Was awesome and got to meet up with a couple local photographers.

If that is true, pretty ridiculous on Disney's part. You can't trust everyone to secure a bag that might come lose, but then again they have alligators roaming around their family resorts, so a bag as a projectile is probably not a big deal until something happens.

Lol I doubt that happens often. And even if I didn't have a camera bag, I'd have a bag of some sort to carry all the random stuff we carry to the parks so I appreciate the policy.

They check each passenger before the rides depart...If something isnt secure they intervene. I've been told to pack my camera away before a ride starts.

And besides...Even their biggest thrill rides aren't that bad compared to a ride you'd see at a six flags park.
