Lol I doubt that happens often. And even if I didn't have a camera bag, I'd have a bag of some sort to carry all the random stuff we carry to the parks so I appreciate the policy.

They check each passenger before the rides depart...If something isnt secure they intervene. I've been told to pack my camera away before a ride starts.

And besides...Even their biggest thrill rides aren't that bad compared to a ride you'd see at a six flags park.

Even at 6 flags they have that policy. You hold onto your bags most of the time. It allows them to have more cars on track at a time.

I find that even more surprising, especially with the coasters at Six Flags. Maybe it was Universal Orlando that was more strict. But then again Disney has 8 Foot Alligators at their man made beach resorts and didn't do anything until there was a tragedy.

Or maybe bags on rides doesn't really pose a risk so it isn't an area of concern?

They did ban selfie sticks because people were hanging them off rides and it did pose a risk to passengers.

Just been looking through this tread and ive seen some amazing shots.
I went to DW back in 2007 and 2009, with basic DSLR gear, but im going again in Feb and cant wait. going to leave my 5Dmkiii and L lenses at home and just take my 80D and 18-135 (and probably a prime).

Can i ask two questions?
When i went before i was doing child swap, so taking my camera bag on the rides was never a n issue, as i didnt need to. This time we will all go on the rides so...
1. Has anyone had anything damaged by taking a camera bag on the rides?
2. Is there a list of rides that DONT allow camera bags on? (talking about the bigger rides really).

Thanks for any replies, cant wait until next week and ill be sure to post some images when i get back.

Never an issue on the rides, but I'm generally cautious, leaving the gear in the bag at the end of the row for Saorin' or having the non-coaster riding friend hold the bag for rockin roller coaster, or tucking an arm or leg through the shoulder strap on Everest or Seven Dwarfs.

However, since they changed their "security" screening to include metal detectors last spring, and more involved bag checks I've had a lot more trouble getting the camera in the parks, from having to explain what a camera battery was to being completely separated from the bag and pushed along away from it and getting mad at me when I went to get it back after going through the metal detectors. I pretty much stopped going after they took two Fuji lenses out of the bag, shook them around and hit them together. I was told it was done because some people put alcohol in them and bring it into the park. I haven't been back the lenses are worth more than the Annual Pass, but we live close enough I used to justify going pretty much every other week.

I went over 28 days in 2016 on vacations and never once had security touch or remove any of my lenses or cameras. If they needed to, they'd ask me to lift it for them.

It's a PIA for security going through all my zippered parts of my bag, but other than an inconvenience, it's nothing that major. I would have raised hell had a security guard shook and hit my lenses.

Well that's what they thought about the alligators until you know what happened. If your leaving it up to riders to secure bags, cameras etc, its not an if it's a when.

On the lighter side, I guess you never saw the movie Destination 3.

Yes and 1.3 million people die in car accidents everyday, so don't drive cars either, because its not a question of if you get into a wreck, its a question of when.

Like I said earlier, the ride operators will check each passenger to make sure everything is secure before a ride departs. I've been told to put my camera away before. The policy to let people bring bags is for the convenience of the guests and I personally appreciate the gesture. Lots of people have bags (i.e. women have purses), and most of them don't have cameras in them.

Thanks to those that answered my questions from a couple of weeks ago.
I'm out here now (Orlando) and the 18-135 is working out better than I expected. Ive not had to use my 10-18 and hardly used my primes as i can get quite slow shutter speeds with this lens while hand holding. The range is just perfect.

I guess this time I'm going more for snap shots rather than anything too creative, done all that before so this time, on the whole I'm just documenting what we see. We are moving Quite fast through the parks so i cant hold the family up too much.

So far in Disney Ive taken my bag on all rides, although it was a tight fit in some of the bag compartments on rides like Mission: Space. One thing I'm really glad of is the decision to bring just this gear and nothing larger, as in Universal its all about lockers, and its been a real struggle to get the bag in those. Any thing larger and I'd have missed most of the rides.
Agree about the pain in getting bags in to the parks, but i guess its understandable. Ive had no issues with security, and nothing has ever been removed from the bag. In fact most of the pockets haven't even been checked. I prefer the detectors at University rather than the bag checks at Disney though, it seems a bit quicker.

I also have a GoPro with me and got some great footage on Test Track. I only took a small grip as i had read that longer poles aren't allowed, although Ive seen loads and no one seems worried about not being allowed to use them.

Thought i should post a shot as this is a picture thread. Hopeful to ill post a few more when i get back home to the UK

Haha, yeah. They got worried when they heard I had a Canon in my bag .

A couple more. Last day today. Got a lot to wade through next week. Just editing these on my iPad so its hard to get the best out of the low light shots. Happy with these though.
