Amazing set of shots!!!!

Thanks!

Nice shot.
This really makes me wish I'd have spent another day down there to go to Hollywood Disney. We kept trying to make it for the lights and kept running out of time. :(

Excellent shots in here! Made me more excited to head to Tokyo Disney Land in Feb!

Just a quick question, is there a place where I can store my bag whilst I become a little kid again and go on the rides so I am not just leaving my backpack and tripod out in the open... Will share my shots when I arrive back home

My family and I just got back from a week-long visit to Disney World. We couldn't decide what we liked best, the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, or Animal Kingdom. They were all amazing. We like Hollywood Studios, but it wasn't our favorite.

The weather was perfect. We were in Orlando for a week. The first day was rainy and cold, but we weren't in the park that day...just arriving. The first day in the park was sunny and warm, and continue that way for the whole five days we visited (using a park-hopper pass). Our visit couldn't have been more enjoyable...it was the best family vacation we have had with our girls (11 and 9). The girls don't believe in magic anymore (or Santa, etc.), but that's okay. They loved the parks anyway.

My personal favorites were Epcot and Animal Kingdom because I like cultural attractions and meeting people from around the world. The park is staffed with foreigners from each of the countries represented (all the staff in France were from France, etc.). Loved it!

Here are a few pics:

1. Getting ready to start one of the days in the park (portrait taken by daughter):

IMAGE: http://fairmont.smugmug.com/Travel/Disney-World-2010/Mike-the-French-Ninja/1138239034_o4ahw-L.jpg

2. My wife and daughers at the Norway exhibit in Epcot. Look at that clear sky. It was that way for all five days. Everyday was a high in the low 70s. The only crowded park was Magic Kingdom.

IMAGE: http://fairmont.smugmug.com/Travel/Disney-World-2010/Vikings/1138260841_3fbEM-L.jpg

3. My absolute favorite part of Disney: Morocco in Epcot. All the employees, gifts, etc. are from Morocco, and it was amazing. Incense filled the air, the music was good, the people were wonderful, and the food fantastic. Loved it!

IMAGE: http://fairmont.smugmug.com/Travel/Disney-World-2010/Morocco/1138243435_Le4J6-L.jpg

4. Cinderella's Castle at night. I couldn't take a photo that would do this place justice, but I did my best.

IMAGE: http://fairmont.smugmug.com/Travel/Disney-World-2010/Cinderellas-Castle-at-Night/1138202092_gVHwX-L.jpg

5. The number one stage show at Disney: Festival of the Lion King. It's a stage show that's in the round, and there isn't a bad seat in the house. It's not the Lion King story. It's a high-wire, circus act of people...very acrobatic and musical...after the show I had to ask a coupld strong guys to help me lift my jaw off the floor. Seriously, it was a perfect show.

6. Our favorite dining experience: The African buffet at the Animal Kingdom. The food was incredible...more variety than I could handle. Good African and American foods. Bursting with flavor.

7. I probably should have brought a point and shoot. Believe me, it was difficult lugging this onto Space Mountain. Seriously, this is a "Kodak Spot" in Epcot. My wife took this photo of me.

IMAGE: http://fairmont.smugmug.com/Travel/Disney-World-2010/Michael-the-Photographer/1138237958_iA5GT-L.jpg

8. Finally, Christmas Eve we ate dinner with the Princesses in the big castle. I've been going to Disney for almost 40 years, and never was in that castle before. Now I know what it looks like inside. The only part they wouldn't let us see was the top-floor suite that had the big dude from "Everybody Loves Raymond." He was a guest at the park that week, doing some show. Must be a nice suite up there. But meeting Snow White was good enough. It took me a while to get my camera ready (I was eating) when she came to my table. She called me Dopey. Grrrrr.

You'll have a great time. I recommend staying at the resort and joining a dining plan. Make eating reservations well ahead of time.

Oh, and bring a low light lens, even if you have to rent it. I had to make due with my two kit lenses, so there were some opportunities I missed.

I can't even imagine how good of photos I could get at the Festival of the Lion King if I had the 28mm 1.8. USM

They allow flash photography at that event (not sure why, considering some of the stuff they do is really dangerous), but they specifically state that flash photography is allowed there. Many exhibits don't allow flash, like the haunted house, Pirates of the Caribbean, and more. I think taking a flash photo in space mountain would be fun. But that ride practically bent my spine out of whack. Rough ride. My oldest daughter and I didn't like it, but my youngest kid and wife did.

I like to see where I'm going.

Thank you. bw!

A couple more to distract you from work:

African drummer (worn out):

Festival of the Lion King Show. With a low light lens or a proper flash one could get a really good photo of this.

The Safari Ride at Animal Kingdom was great. Really good and real. Only one fake animal (a baby elephant at the end).

Finally, the best part of any vacation: Family
