I shot exclusively in jpeg until about 6 months ago. Now I shoot RAW and RAW only.

I started out shooting jpg and auto on the camera. Now I shot RAW and manual. Lightroom helped with the RAW, practice helped with the manual.

I shoot RAW only. JPEG is not a good idea (except for sports shooting, where you probably need both the increase in buffer speed, and the additional card space). Stick with RAW if you want to get the most out of a DSLR. My $.02.

I only shoot raw. It is the only way to shoot a quality photo that can be fully processed. And if your really into getting more fine art photography you will shoot RAW and process HDR!!!

I shoot RAW whenever I can. I only have a 4GB card, so RAW isn't always the best thing.
But for senior shoots, I shoot RAW, for weddings I shoot JPEG, unless I can unload my card onto my laptop.

teeny, I also resisted RAW for a while, but once I made the change, I rarely if ever shoot in JPG.

I'm a noob, but RAW only. Someone wise said that you cam make a jpg out of a RAW, but you can't make a RAW out of a jpg.

I'm the exact opposite. Shoot Only JPG after shooting RAW only.

10's of thousands of post told me to shoot raw, 10's of thousands of images told me I don't have too.

There is so much hype around the differences that don't really matter so much these days.

But to each 'is own.

Tell you what though, why don't you just try it. You can shoot both or even turn your RAW into JPG if you don't need to do anything to your shots. Shoot both for a few sessions, see if you need the extra latitude. (About a stop of exposure)

I know I shoot raw in many situations I don't have to. I'm just to lazy to go into the menu and change it. :)

40D+ will give you 2.5 stops..

Until LR 2 (and more importantly the beta profiles for it and ACR) I shot alot of RAW+Jpg, just because I wanted the power of ACR's processing for my; RAW files, but sometimes the colors were so difficult to get right that I'd settle for the .jpg. Not so much of a problem anymore, so I'm pretty much RAW only (still do the occasional RAW+Jpg, just to check up on and keep Adobe honest. :) )

Of latitude, but not over and above a JPG.
