I caught this image this afternoon, and it offered itself to my complete surprise. Shot with a S5 on auto, hand held with a little zoom. Image is straight out of the camera except for resizing to fit board requirements. I rarely shoot in auto mode, but given my location on the side of a busy highway and the speed the balloon was traveling did not allow me to do any camera tweaking. I did have time to throw on a polarizer to give the sky a little blue tint.

C&C welcome

Nice image. Maybe bump the contrast just a tad.

Thanks. I was hoping I could get more definition on the basket and the people, but I am not sure that is possible with a P&S. I don't have any pay for play photo manipulation software, and the options on Picasa are nice but they don't do what the more sophisticated programs will do for an image. I tried the auto contrast tool on Picasa just now, but it didn't make enough difference to warrant the change.

Thanks again

I'd take a whack at it for you if you will turn you image editing ok on.

Colours look nice to me, I just wish it was a little less frame-filling and central. Did you take any more?

I believe I found the right switch for that option. Please have a go at it.

And thanks again

Yes I did, and these are less frame filling, but still have the object in the center of the pic. There was absolutely nothing I could have added to the frames without making the balloon seem to be way in the distance and have a few trees and the earth in the pic.

I messed with the photo a bit. Hope you don't mind.
My screen is totally jacked up (in its' last throes of life) so the balance may be off.

Thanks for showing me how the image could pop a little more. Picasa has a few more tools that I wasn't attempting to use. Do you like this one better?

Thanks very much. I have never flown like that, but it sure does look peaceful, and there appears to be a lot of room to stow snacks and drinks in the basket. I did notice there appears to be a lack of sanitary facilities though.;)
