It looks like a sigma 70-300 APO macro as it has a red ring.

That info should be engraved on the lens somewhere, look for it.

There are 2 other issues - what camera was it designed to fit on - Nikon, Canon, Sigma, Minolta etc....Nikons and Canons are worth more as more people have those bodies. And how old is the lens? If it is more than a few years old it may not work on a Canon DSLR even if it has a EF canon mount - as many of the older sigma lenses need to be rechipped in order to be used on the new DSLRs. If it doesn't work on any of the current crop of Canon DSLRs then it is almost worthless.

You could always take it to a camera store and have the guys there atake a look at it - they should be able to help, and certainly tell you if it can work on a Canon.

If you eBay it without being able to answer any of these questions, it will sell for very little and the buyer may have issues with you if they can't use it, so be very careful with your advert wording.

It doesn't look like my 70-300 APO macro. Ribbing on the zoom and focus rings is different. Maybe it's the older non-APO?

Some better pics of it would help for starters. Turn off the harsh flash.

That looks like a Sigma 70-300mm. APO.. I can't tell myself. But it looks like it has reverse zoom so it's probably a Nikon or Sigma mount, maybe a Sony.

Well, it's definitely a Sigma. It looks like it says 70-100-135-200-300 on it for focal lengths, so it's probably a 70-300mm. And I see the work macro in yellow. So it's a Sigma 70-300mm macro of some kind. That's the best I can do from the picture. It'd probably help to know what the three lines of text are in the middle of the picture, as well as if it says anything around the glass on the end.

Must be an older 70-300 version as it looks nothing like my 70-300. Read what it says on the side and also under the rear lens cap it will say something like "Canon AF" or "Nikon AF" which will tell you what the mount is.
