Anyone have a nifty way to get shots from above using some kind of support?

I almost always need a tripod for what I'm shooting, but i'd like to get up higher. Anyone figured out a way to do this?

I need to find a way to be portable, and support a camera.

So...
1. Does anyone know of any stools or anything that are compact, to get me that high perspective?

2. Does anyone know of a way to keep a camera steady (1/4-1/30 shutters) from a placement above your head? (and there's rarely anything to 'tangle' my gorillapod to)

Can you just put your camera on a monopod, raise it over your head and use a wired or wireless remote? You'd have to use a wider lens than you'd like to make sure you get everything in the shot, or just try a couple times.

i could try that, but monopods don't reach to 8+ feet... holding it would not work for a 1/10 shutter speed....

If you hold it against the ceiling, you should be able to pull off the 1/10. Why don't you bump up the ISO on that nifty new gadgetry you got there with your XSI? ;-)a
