Hi guys

I was out shooting on the weekend under a bridge along some railway tracks and I came across a bunch of these things. Just wondering if anyone knows what they are and what they do. I know this is a Canon forum and these things are Nikon in brand but I did shoot them with my 20D

Possible, I was thinking it was more of a sensor or trigger for a camera or video surveillance type of thing.

Some cameras, some lenses, plenty of gaffer's tape and beer.

No I don't think they are worms as they have feet I think they are like centipedes either way they are annoying and kinda creepy heh

Bingo. Nikon has a line of laser theodolite/rangefinders. These would be targets for repeated surveys of the bridge against gradual shifting over time.

It looks like the icon Nikon uses on their cameras for the Matrix metering mode. :mrgreen: :lol:

My first guess would've been something along the lines of a piezo electric band that measures stresses exerted on the structure at certain times, or over a period of time.
