I bought the 40D last week since the price dropped to the point where it's affordable and I could justify the splurge.

Anyway, it's a huge upgrade to my XTi, simply in terms of the autofocus capabilities.

I played around with it in severe low light conditions (indoors, dim) where my XTi suffer in terms of trying to autofocus. But the 40D has very little to no problems acquiring focus.

I'm still keeping my XTi as my secondary shooter, but I am definitely glad I bought the 40D.

The heftiness compared to the XTi is pretty cool, too.

Loving mine too. I find myself using PS less and less. Export to LR and tweak a bit and done.
Taken at a family outing today. Export to LR, tweak and done.

and of course the Duck shot, and yes, I touched this one up a bit with PS. You can only do so much with a duck :-)

Just got mine this week! Loving it over my XT. AF far surpasses what I'm used to. I'm itching to see how it performs at a wedding!

I love my 40d. It produces colors very similar to my old 1Dmk3. The AF is good enough for most all situations and the metering is rock solid. Been using it with the 35L and more recently the EF 50/1.4 for a very light set-up. The combo is about the same weight as my 35L alone, maybe a little heavier but perfect for my backpack for my bike rides to work. Of all the xxD's and xxxD's I've owned....(which is all but the 10D) the 40D is the best.
Enjoy it:)

Ocabj.. You summed up how I felt in late July when I upgraded my XTi to the 40D.
And yes, I am keeping my XTi as a backup or if my family wants to shoot also.

I have been playing with 40D for a month now and it is really a great upgrade over my XTi. This is not mine 40D, friend of mine gave it to me. The thing I DON'T like in 40D is the crapy LCD-screen. It is impossible to understand was the object on the image in the focus or not. So, I've decided to move to XXD series, but on 50D rather than 40D. 50D also have higher ISOs and AF microadjustments, as well as contrast AF in LiveView.

I think Canon knew that most xxxD guys would eventually want to upgrade to an xxD and come the first 5D MKII's to hit stores I will go there too :D

I too upgraded from a XTi to my 40D and it was a great jump, I learned a lot more and had a ton more keepers.

I will be sad when I trade my 40D for a 5D MKII but then again I will be overly excited too :D

Congrats again.
