Can you recover pictures from a card when...

you have deleted the pictures and filled up the card with new pictures?

I know the question sounds ridiculous but I also know that miracles are sometimes possible!

I was sure my 4GB extreme III card was empty so I lent it to my friend who had to give me 4gb's of raw pictures.

He deleted the files manually (CTRL-A, Del) than put all his files on the empty card.

Is there a way to get the files back even tho he filled up the card with his files?

I suppose it depends how much of the card he filled up? There might be some images hiding that weren't overwritten.

I'm scanning right now with ''recover my files'' from getdataback

it has found my friend's NEF files but not my CR2.

Give "UnDelete Plus" a try on it...it recovered an awful lot of stuff that I thought was gone for months. Its a freeware program, I believe.

did he do it on his cam or on his comp? On my comp if i do that it just sends them to trash, and you can remove from there... but if it was on the camera, then no.

Sorry, but the images are gone...

If you've filled it with images after deleting the old ones then you shouldn't be able to recover anything, the old images have been written over.

yeah it's pretty much impossible.. I've tried many sofwares and so did my friend on his comp...

For what it's worth the best tool I've found for quickly recovering images from memory cards is Zero Assumption Recovery. It did save my .cr2 files as .tif files but they were easy to rename and get back to normal. Didn't look to see if there was a way to change that.
