I happened to look at the Canon site and they show MSRP for the following cameras:

50D $1399
40D $1099
30D $1299

Have they made a mistake on the 30D or have they decided it is now a collector's item?

Edit: Maybe they decided there is something wrong with the 40D.

There IS a search function as this is brought up like every week. :rolleyes:

The price has not been updated on the site for some time.

B&H is selling new 30D's for $799.

How about technological progress resulting in reduced costs? Don't get me started on how much my first PC cost back in '84 with the 2 5-1/4" floppies! :lol:

Does a pentium 120 with a 500mb har drive and a 8mb 2d graphic card for $2K ring a bell!!? :confused::(

lol!

My wife's first Mac was $3600 in 1993! If you factor in inflation that's over $6000 today. I think we still have it in our basement. I bet it still works too.

that price likely comes from the current round of rebates, but dunno where the 30d price comes from, since i thought they got rid of it finally.

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

My first PC was the Apple II with 16K. I had to go out to radio shack and pick up a cassette recorder as all I had at the time was reel to reel and 8 tracks. I needed the cassette so I could load the OS and make the thing work. This great setup was almost a grand. A few weeks later I sprung for a memory upgrade, a whopping 48K that cost $1800. PCs have gotten quite a bit cheaper.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

How about Intel 8088, 512 Kb RAM, monochrome monitor - $3200? Everytime I used my IBM spreadsheet software (I think was called PFS, or something), I had to load it from the floppy disk, do my work, save the data to another floppy and print it on my Star-Micronics pin-feed dot matrix printer.
