Hey all

not sure if this works or if you could tell me how to improve this shot?

hey, to start, don't shoot your macro subject with foliage in the way it looks like a green mess to me ;)

I would get in a lot closer and fill the frame with the flower.

The sharpest part of the image is a leaf to the left of the flower I think. You should try and get more focus on the flower.

Lastly, it can sometimes be nice to spray some water on the flower to create a dew effect.

A deeper depth of field would reduce the blur on the near leaves. Taking a higher perspective would have the same effect of putting more of the subject into focus while at the same time reducing the amount of bright white distracting background.

Similar to what Bob said, Get above that flower; don't shoot towards the horizon for these kinds of shots unless you have something of interest in the background (like a blue sky, for example). Get it nice and tight...as it stands, it's just a picture of some greenery with a flower in the middle, rather than a picture of a flower.
