SanDisk...they are the standard that others hope to attain. That said, without knowing what camera you are using...it is real hard to recommend a good card. Most cameras are the limiting factor. (Go Phils!!!)

I use SanDisk. Lexar at least used to make cards that were less, flexible for want of a better word, as to camera lines they worked with. At one point, they had to issue a fix for their cards because they regularly trashed files on Canon cameras.I'm sure they aren't making that mistake any more, but old habits die hard.

Size-wise, I think 4 GB is pretty much ideal. Backs up to a single DVD, holds a reasonable number of shots but not so many you'll go crazy tracking them. If you shoot only JPEG, 2 GB would probably be fine too. But 4 GB is also a very good price per GB right now. I've just bought a couple of 8 GB cards, but I'll be using them mainly for when I know I'll be shooting a lot/

The 4gb Extreme IIIs are the bargain today. That would be my choice...and a pair of batteries from Sterlingtek.

I also use Sandisk. Recommend Extreme III or Ultra II depending on which is cheaper. 4GB will get you around 275 raw shots.

I use Sandisk 4GB CF and SD/SDHC cards. Don't think they sell Lexar cards locally down this part of the world

On 40d extreme III is fast enough, ultra II is slower, no diff between ex III and IV (in my simple tests)

I just found this: http://www.robgalbraith.com …ti_page.asp?cid=6007-9257 (external link)
it proves me wrong :)

I was using the Lexar Professional 2GB 133x speed on my XTi.
I decided to get new cards when I got my 40D.
Most of my local shops are now carrying SanDisk.
I have an Extreme III and the Ultra IV both 2 GB.
I will be buying the Extreme III in either the 2 or 4GB in the future.

I've never noticed a difference between Sandisk Ultra IIs and Extreme IIIs. I have both and both meet my needs when taking sports photos.

I agree ... I use Ultra IIs in my 40D, 50D and XTi. I switched to 4 GB cards for the 40D, and will probably go to a couple of 8 GB for the 50D. I like about 400 shots per card, maximum.
