Autumn Farm

I really liked this picture but the more I look at it the more I think there is something wrong with it... I cant point it out and maybe its just me. Anybody else see some things I could have done differently?

I think it's a nice shot but I think that it would have benefit from more color in the trees to really give it that "autumn look" and I think it definitely would have worked better with a nicer sky. With this shot, since it's a nice shot to begin with and since the sky isn't all that prominent, I think I would just clone/paste in a better sky.

anyways, yeah it was a stop off from a drive so the weather wasnt in my favor and that was the only colored tree there. I might try doing a copy paste with a new sky though.... see how that works.

I like it. Some of those trees ain't gonna change color till they die. The one that has changed looks perfect. the fallen leaves look good.

The sky looks just like an overcast autumn sky should look.

I know what throws me off, this would look better ( just to me ) as a landscape as opposed to a portrait.

I knew that...after a bit.

lose some of the fore ground and get a closer shot of the barn and you will have something. Just a little too busy as is in my oppinion.

The image has a great sense of balance (good composition).
The colored tree is a nice frame on the left border with branches that point toward the barn. The green trees begin at the right border/forground to make a nice anchor and they recede into the image toward the barn to create a sense of depth. The road/path are also nice lead-in tools as well. IHMO the image could be improved by dodging (high-lighting) the barn slightly to make it more dominant in the total image.

I like the the contrast amont the separate elements. It looks as if the elements were selectively saturated and selectively sharpened in order to get that much separation between them.

i think its great the way it is. i would maybe lose the very bottom where the grass is a different color but i think its a technically sound image. the rule of 3rds is well played out and my eye goes directly to the barn. This pic makes me want to walk to the barn on that path there. good shot.

I agree with mung tyson, I would consider cropping the bottom to rid of the shade on the grass while keeping as much of the dead foliage.

In architecture, you always want to hide and disclose the subject, and I think this picture portrays this idea. I like the barn's rust, but would prefer to see a bit more of a filter to make the photo a bit warmer.

The sky is great.
