Here is one of my very first macro attempts. Evening sunlight gave me a great mix of color and shadow. I didn't notice the spider silk thread until post-processing (tweaks to saturation and contrast, plus sharpening). I'm quite inexperienced with macro, and would appreciate any critique, suggestions or advice regarding this shot or macro in general.
I'm using an old manual Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AI-s lens with a reversing-ring mount for my Canon XTi. I'm finding that the focus ring on the lens is mostly useless--moving in and out gives me better results on bringing the subject into focus. But I'm really appreciating the manual aperture.
