Nice job, very nice DOF on the first image... the b&w is also just about perfect for my eye, but others don't seem to agree with my b&w contrasts - I like it though.

My only critic would be I would have cleaned the kodak a little more, but it's a minor point.

Whoaaa, I like that first one. Very professional looking - like a poster you would see hanging in a camera store window.

Thank you everyone! I honestly really had trouble making anything I was happy with.

How do you mean? Sharpening or play with contrast to make it more visible?

The camera in the picture? LOL, it's film. I think it's from the 40's.

Soap and cloth? Maybe some silver polish.

I like them, B+W is perfect for the subject.

Changes, clean the camera a bit more and not blow out the DOF scale of the subject so much.

I have to agree with the general consensus here...the second shot doesn't really do anything for me, but the first shot is beautiful. I do agree with aram here though in that for such a vivid close up, I'd have cleaned the camera a little better first...there's a couple of dust specs there that are pretty evident. Easy to clone out though. I also think I'd go with just a tich more sharpening too....just a little more USM maybe to really make that contrast pop.

Peace,
Jim

Nice job! Both pictures are quite good to begin with. So, there are only little things need to be done to pop it a bit more.

Improvement suggestion:
1. Since the DoF is quite narrow and focusing on "20-25" dial... I would try to sharpen it even more to make a bigger contrast from the rest of the image. Warm filter is added to give it more interesting look. Just personal preference. Some people actually prefer cool filter instead. For close up, I remove some dust from the image. Looks like the camera has some spotty dust on it.
2. In #2, looks like the camera is not leveled intentionally. I personally prefer it leveled. Again, just personal preference. I attached an example on how it could look. Let me know what you think. Secondly, the empty space on the left is not really enhancing the overall presentation, so I crop it to make the camera more of a focal point in this picture. Again, just personal preference. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

I agree, Number 1 is an awesome shot! I have that exact camera and mine is a bit dusty too, take a silver cloth and clean it up a little. It will make a world of difference.

Im just going to share a little something I heard from a well known professional photographer. As a photographer, never have a picture of another camera. It is a tool to do a job. You would never see a gynecologist with a picture of his tools would you?

I thought that advise was funny and a little true, ever since I have never taken pictures of cameras.

WIth that being said, nice shots :)

I have to say I disagree with this photographer's opinion. With the same argument, I can't imagine a guitarist never take photos with their guitars. I can't imagine the world without Eric Clapton's fender or BB King's Les Paul. :):)

It's all good. Take photos of whatever you passionate about. Why make a boundary? It's just absurd to me.

It's not a picture of a camera, it's appreciation of craftsmanship.

#1 is a great shot... can't say enough, love it.

#2 on the other hand, has too much back-light, and not enough where it should be. Even with the shallow DoF I can make out too much stuff I shouldn't even be looking at. You don't happen to have one shot from the window side, do ya?
