Has anyone tried or seen the build quality of these aftermarket parts before?

I know it seems like your supose to stick with canon, but since i got the grip 89.99 brand new in box off amazon compaired to canon's bg which is 189 i think i made out well. The targus build grip is really nice the scroll wheel by the shutter is a little cheap but its a solid grip i would pick another up. Although i might skip some of the Ebay brands and stick to amazon you can get a better deal and its coming from a good store (47th street/adorama/bh/beachcamera)

But thats just my opinion. Many here use and love their battery grips. [Gear List | Flickr

I've owned Targus and Opteka, and both crapped out within a couple of months. I've had Canon grips fail too, but at least Canon provides a real warranty. Good luck getting Opteka to replace a faulty grip
