Hey'all,

I have little experience with digital photography (took several film photography classes), but I am now thinking to upgrade to a 40D (within the next few days). Still in architecture school, I am interested in small details and architectural (or built environment).

Please post any pictures you do not mind sharing, I want to see the capabilities of this baby! :D

Not exactly small detail, but architectural. Here's one of Victoria's Parliament building and St Michaels in downtown Melbourne Australia in the very early pre-dawn light. The colour is real courtesy of coloured spotlights.:D

Canon 40D and Sigma 17-70 lens.

Note these are heavily compressed

Here are a couple shots taken with my 40D and 24-105mm F4L IS.
The photo of Hammons Tower is of course HDR.

thanks, great pics. I am thinking of buying a 10-22mm for wide angle arch. photos, is there any better options that are not too expensive?

Consider the Sigma 10-20; it's a VERY good lens and considerably cheaper than the Canon. A search on the forums will reveal a bunch of discussion threads. Each lens of course has it's own camp of believers! (I have the Sig...)

Here's an example of "architecture" taken with the Sig...

+1 for the Sigma 10-20, brilliant lens for the price of the Canon 10-22, given thats it's £160 cheaper than the Canon makes it even better than brilliant!!

Another one with the Sigma 10-20mm, highly recommended if you can put up with the price and built-quality of the Canon.

Mine is a picture of the European headoffice of the saudi-arabian petrochemical company Sabic located in The Netherlands. It's quite an impressive building, for more pics visit: http://sabic.ru …head-office/_en/index.htm (external link)
