I heard from somewhere that the shape of the letters "5D Mark II" on the strap using secretly developed unobtainium (The real stuff, not the Oakley branded rubber) creates an electromagnetic resonance field around the camera which dramatically reduces noise. The striping on the "D" extends this field around the photographer improving the eye's ability to see colour, focus and edgy compositions. The beautiful virgins who will throw themselves at you when wearing this strap was an unintended side effect.

No, seriously. I heard this from a guy in a pub who's brother in law's uncle's cousin's friend has a sister who knows somebody who works in Canon R&D.

Do most people keep the canon strap on there anyway? I have an awesome guitar strap on mine ;)

I was also thinking of picking up one of the crumpler straps as they look OH SO comfortable!

Pretty sure some one who mugs you for your mk2 wont know or care the make or model much less take the time to read "5d Mk2". They will see you have a nice camera and rob you. Same as they would with some one using an XT or something of the sort.

That looks real nice. I have the OP Tech Utility strap which is thicker in padding and it doesn't fray as much.

Just put a nikon strap on there and nobody will steal it...ha..ha. Or you could make a housing that covers the whole camera and makes it look like something else. Has anyone ever heard of somebody having their camera stolen while they were wearing it? Maybe if you go out at night in a bad neighborhood! Just think, if you hang 2 cameras, a tripod and other gear on you, you won't be able to run fast enough if they come to mug you...ha.ha.....so don't carry more than a point and shoot!

This is not an issue. The Canon strap is aweful from a use perspective. Just get a different one, easy fix.

If you have such discerning thieves, I think I'd go with a Sony strap; no one wants those noisy files.

OMG now I'm put off from buying the Canon 5D Mk II... and it's NOT because of the 9 point AF.

Canon puts "EOS 5D Mark II" on EOS 5D Mark II neckstrap. Who does this remind me off? Noink  who enjoys putting their users in danger of getting mugged and stuff.

Saw this pic (external link) from here (external link).

[Sarcasm]Nice move Canon, nice move[/sarcasm]. WTF is wrong with their design team recently? First 1D III AF problems, 1Ds tilting viewfinders and now this?!

Man, I'm glad someone is finally addressing Canons reckless behavior. Forget megapixels and AF points. Now we have an issue we can really sink our teeth into.

Aw! I don't think we even sell Sharpies in this country... and shipping may be prohibitive :( Are other brands of permanent marker compatible with Canon neckstraps?

Officeworks. ;)

Hmmm... I have an old Minolta film camera strap... that might work... right? But then I'd probably have to use those weird cylindrical memory card thingies too...
