I can get the 24L second hand in perfect condition for a little more than half the newprice. (approx. 650 dollar that would be in the usa)
I'm curious and still want a fast prime around 30mm for my 40d (and possibly a FF in the future, but not for now)...
How does it perform on the 40D? Is the softness at 1.4 really that bad?
I think this is a nice deal? Or would it be stupid to go for this lens for this price now the 24LII is anounced?

I'd buy it just to flip it ... minimum of $200 profit.

Why would you not buy it...38mm FOV on the 40D

soft at 1.4?! who said that? assuming it interacts with your body nicely...

Id pick that up RIGHT NOW if I had the opp and then be in dept when my CC got charged for the 5DMKII hahah!

ill jump straight, if u dunt want ill give u $50 profit :D, based on the-digital-picture.com, that thing is sharp, as sharp/sharper than 50L both wide open or same aperture. MUch sharper than 28 1.8, even both wide open. buy it without hesitant.

It's from a studio nearby so i have the chanche to go there myself and see/test it before i buy it. It's also only used in the studio.
It's no Nigerian scam :)

@wallybud: there are user reviews and normal reviews that are saying this lens is soft wideopen. That's why i ask it.

I'd be snapping that up right away. It's a great little lens... one that's on my wishlist. :D
