no resemblance to dave hills photos imho.

It's a good start. Maybe bump up the blacks and contrast a bit. I like the effect on the keffiyeh.

And there is no need for a similarity. Your work is unique in itself, and you don't need to try to copy someone else. Cultivate your own skills and your eye, and you will get good marks.

Sorry, but not close. nothing personal, but even if you nailed it perfectly, it is still his effect. one of the biggest mistakes you can make in any art field weather it be painting drawing or photography is to copy someone else's style. Be original, come up with your own style and just enjoy looking at Dave Hill's images.

Just my opinion.

Except for the line that goes all around the subject( halo like) this photo is very appealing to me. I wouldn't mess with it;)

I'm not familiar with Dave Hill, so I don't really know what you were going for. I like this image a lot though and I think if you could get rid of the halo it would be even better.
