Hello all, like each time before, I am asking you my fellow amateur photographers and the respected professionals on this forum before I contact the ars... at canon support.

I have a strange issue with my tree week old 1d mark III, sometimes when I use the 70-200 or the 24-70 in combination with the 580ex II I get the Err 99!? This happens only sometimes, not often but I've lost a few shots. I did most of what was suggested on this forum after searching for a few hrs. cleaned the contacts, powered it off and pulled the batt. out and keept it out for a few hrs. replaced the small batt. charged up the battery fully... no luck. Anyone with the same issue?

Thank you.

I am not young enough to know everything. O.W.

If I ever saw an ERR 99 on my camera, it would be sent to Canon for repair. This is something that is unlikely to fix itself. It may be too late to swap with the dealer you purchased it from, but you may check to see if that's an option.

My only error 99s have been flukes and never recurred on the same camera; definitely a potential problem.

If it recurs under the same conditions, I'd call your nearest Canon Service Center, or take it back from whence you bought it for exchange.
