I was looking through the 100 or so pictures I had just taken and paused to get a candy out of the glove compartment of the car. In that moment my camera screen went blank which I thought was kind of quick but that's normal so didn't concern me.

When I went to continue all that was on the screen was "No Images" - all my pictures were just gone!!!

I noticed afterwards that my battery was low but not at the end point - could this have caused the loss?

The card is a CF SanDisk Ultra II 2.0 GB about 2 years old.

I'm going to purchase and download a recovery program if there's any chance of recovery. I 'm also going to have to get a card reader as I never bothered with one.

I've read about failures and recovery on this forum and have a couple of questions:

1. Is "No Images" the usual response of the camera in these circumstances? (I'm wondering if perhaps mine are not recoverable)

2. What Recovery Program are people using and liking?

3. Card Reader - any suggestions?

Don't know if I'll ever trust these cards now... thanks!

Get a Sandisk Extreme card reader. They're inexpensive, fast, & come with RescuePRO which works quite well.

Don gave you a good suggestion...there is no reason your files shouldn't be recoverable.

It's a relief to know that my recovery chances are good - thanks for that Dan.

The link Don gave me is a really good deal - they don't ship this item to Canada unfortunately, nor is it available on Amazon Canada. Will hunt one down in any event, looks like they are double the price here so far but I need it!

Thanks again!

I have the precursor to that model if you'd be interested in it. I have one that I use but also another still in its retail box that I don't really need. The difference is that it's rated not as fast (still zips though - it's usually the card and/or computer that limits the speed) and has a second slot for SD/SDHC/MMC/MSProDuo.

I wasn't really going to sell it but considering it's been in the box for awhile, I think I could let it go...I'm also getting an ExpressCard SD/SDHC reader to go in my laptop so I'll need it even less.

PM me if you're interested. I'm located in the USA but I'll ship to Canada.
