this shot is filled with emotion... you ruined it with the over the top processing (IMO).

Back off some of the heavy processing and let's see it again

I like the shot as well but do agree there is too much pp done on it.

People, its an HDR, gone through very controlled pp. Please be more specific on which factors to 'back off' on while processing. Thank you for the comments. Much appreciated.

I for one would like to see the original, just to see why you chose HD over out of camera.

Overall I like the image. I think it is obviously meant to be somewhat fantastical so the break from realism doesn't bother me. Personally, I find that the subject kind of blends in with the background a little too much. I think the background is very interesting with all the textures, but it's busy, and my attention was pulled away from the homeless man and his dog.
One thing to consider also could be your choice of subject when processing an image in this style. I personally think it can either amplify or sterilize the initial emotions the viewer feels. I agree with Croasdail, that it conjures a feel of a fantasy style Greek/Roman time period.

Anyway, good show.

Nice work. I actually like the PP on this one.

I won't get into the HDR debate except to say it is unnecessary in this case, insufficient DR.

I will point out that this homeless man and his dog are very well fed, no signs of them being emaciated.

I like it. The processing makes it look like an ole woodcut.

I think the processing reduces the impact of the subject somewhat, but it's still a strong image.

I love the post processing and the composition. It is a work of art !!!
Now if you want to portray photojournalism..get rid of the hdr.
As art goes. don't touch the image:)

IMHO, this image is, in many ways, similar in style to the work of Dave Hill (external link).

too much pp for me....I think it really distracts from your subject, which is a very powerful. if you are going for art/experimental then I think you've done a nice job with this, but if your focus is more on telling the story of your subject I think less pp would be more effective.
Can you post the original?

.over easy.
