You can do better with photoshop i am sure, play with shadow/highlight, level, and layers masking and you will get something decent.

Excellent work... I like both PPing efforts, but particularly the first. It looks almost like a pencil sketch, and the textual interest is superb. I don't feel any need for more emphasis on the subject... his environment is a large part of the interest in the image, and balancing the emphasis works well. You obviously have a good eye and a deft hand at PPing... keep it up, please! Cheers, Tony

Well, I've already mentioned in a previous post that I don't feel right modifying the background in any way and hence deliberately left it as it was even in the second. Thanks a lot for the comments!

-Reef

I agree, changing or editing the background would take away far more than it would add.

Second. Desat those reds a little - he looks like he was scalded in a house fire.

How did you shoot this HDR? 3 shots, 5 shots?
Did you use photomatix?

It indeed has the Dave Hill style to it.
My eye got used to similar processing, but I would probably ease a little on the microcontrast and on the strength sliders.

This is a nice capture. Good job.

Edit: After seeing all the replies - Good job.

It's all in the bag.

I think you did a good job separating the man and his dog just enough in your second image. I like it. The problem is I also agree with some of the other posts that it seems to have lost something the first image had... Not that that makes any sense, but let's just say that I like both images, and have yet to be able to pick a favorite. Good job and really great creative P&P.

Just couldn't help myself.

What do you think about this one? I re-did everything. Vote, First PProcessed image or Second?

This one is MUCH better! Nice job!

While the first is probably technically a good HDR, it doesnt suit the subject at all. I think there are different ways to emphasize and isolate the subject better. I like the second attempt at PP.

I think G7 hit the nail on the head. I'd like to see something in between the first pp and the second pp.
