I went at 2:00 yesterday afternoon and had Lasik surgery on my eyes. As much as I probably would have wanted to spend it on a couple of Canon lenses I have to say it's been an "eye openining experience".

Those of you that are gifted with 20/20 eyesight have no idea what it's like to have to do things with the aid of glasses. Simple things like reading the alarm clock without getting out of bed to see it, finding your toothbrush or even worse - finding your blasted glasses when you misplace them!

I've needed corrective lenses since I was two or three. The doctor recently told me my vision was off the scale (worse than 20/400) - he called it "counting fingers". All my life I was pretty much clinically blind without contacts or glasses.

This morning my vision is at 20/30 and I have little or no irritation (save the wife telling me to vacuum) and I honestly wish I had done this ten years ago! I can hardly wait to go to the beach! I can only imagine going for a swim and coming out of the water being able to see!

For those of you that wear glasses, don't waste another minute. Get in and get it done! Me, I'm saving up for more glasses (of the camera variety).

Well, I'm driving without the aid of corrective lenses but I'm not quite 20/20 yet. Vision seems to be improving slightly each day. It's nice to see my feet in the shower though!

As for seeing the mountains, it's been pouring rain all day. I'm lucky I can see to the end of the street.... :(

That's great. :-) Definitely money well spent.

Regarding the vacuuming request, you could now claim that a side effect of your sight improvement is that you have now gone deaf and can't hear her!

So not only do you have the lenses to capture the images with, you now have the eyes to see them with in the first place!!!!

My vision was so bad that I'm only at 20/25 right now so I'm still relying on the autofocus to be accurate. :)

Doc thinks it'll take about a month for me to realize full correction and that I might even need a minor touch-up to my worst eye.
