No one mentioned AI SERVO mode.
If your subjects are moving perhaps you should be in this mode.
Go with the widest lens opening (smallest number f stop) you have, have all focus points active, go with a high ISO (noisy but sharp is better than out-of-focus smoother) and consider using a monopod if allowed.
In post-processing consider using noise reduction selectively, perhaps going to the channels if you have photoshop or other applic. that allows that.

It's quite simple, your fastest lens is f/4. If you're getting blur, most likely your shutter speed is too slow. To get a faster shutter speed (and keep the same exposure), you can either increase the ISO or use a faster lens (such as f/2.8, f/2, f/1.4.....)

If you can get close enough, the Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 would allow you to get MUCH faster shutter speeds. If at ISO1600 and f/4 you were getting 1/125s, f/2 would get you 1/500s at ISO1600.

So yes, you do need a new lens ;)

I am looking right now.... In fact, I came on POTN just to see if anyone was selling something that I can use!! Had it cranked up to 1600 was scared to go higher....
