Does anyone have any experience with the HP Photosmart C8180? I am considering buying one of these for use as a general purpose color printer, occasional photo printer, and color scanner. The cost of this printer is $300. If there is another make/model that you would recommend instead at this price point, please feel free to make that suggestion.

I was hoping for info .
My C8180 starts and cycles when it feels like it and will not print or talk to computer - just cycle .
I guess it's time for a canon printer .
The HP site just says to replace it if out of warenty - no repair / service in Bay area listed .

I use an HP Photosmart Premium printer. It is a little different model than yours. It does ok. I was never satisfied with glossy pictures printed on HP printers. The blacks always seemed blotchy and not as shiny as the other colors to me. I tried HP, Kodak, Costco and every other photo paper I could get. Nothing seemed to work right. Then after a lot of trial and error I finally discovered a medium that works. Use 'Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper'. You will be surprised on how much better your pictures will be. I should point out I did not have this problem with my Canon printer. It seems to be something with the HP ink.

Good Luck
Mike

Thanks - -
I have not had a problem with the blacks , just colors - expired date and printer won't print .
I print on costco photo paper . I give away the prints and people are more interested in subject than quality of print .
I have nephews and nieces that print out school stuff in Black , so I go thru a lot of black . I do notice on the h470 the black looks blotchy unless I shack up the ink carts but it sits for months without use , so I just shake them up . I guess the ink starts to separate .
