Went to a dogfight show with RC planes saturday. Found it really hard catching those buggers in air. They turn on a nickel. For those unfamiliar with the rules of the game, each plane has a ~45 foot paper streamer attached to the rear and the object of the game is to cut off your opponents streamer. I think they also put two sided tape on their wings to try to catch the opponents streamer.

Between rounds there were also RC helicopters showing off. ;)

Very nice shots. That's something I would love to see in person. Great rotor blur on the last shot.

Thanks. :) It was my first time seeing these 'toys' in action. Was experimenting with 1/60 in the last pic to capture most possible of the blades. :)

Good shots of good fun. I've been learning what shutter speeds too, and haven't nailed it down yet but am close. I haven't seen any dogfights listed in the local calandar of events but will inquire if they do hold them.

Ah, cool with onboard cameras. Would like to see the setup for that.

This may be similar to what was done in that video, but I think it goes even farther. I didn't get a demo flight but it was explained to me when I asked about the camera mounted on the plane. In this instance the camera transmits to the ground where the video is sent to a hood & goggles set up like a virtual reality game, and the person wearing the goggles sees exactly what the camera sees. The owner / pilot flies looking through the goggles rather than by looking at the plane as it flies, OR he could put the goggles on someone else to get the experience while he flew the plane in the normal way.
Here's the camera.

Here's the plane it's on.

and the base station is here. Note the antenna to the right of the table, and on the pole at the table is the video system, plus a video camera he was using, and the white cloth hood is on the table.
