Lol, that would be pretty stressful! Graduating sounds awesome... only 4.5 years to go for me. :(

4.5 years - I guess you just started this year on some combined degree yeah?

Graduating is kinda exciting. Even after all the stress, I think I'm still gonna miss uni. 1st year tends to be a huge mix and mess but by the time you're in your final year, the subjects you take all tend to have your 'usual' small gang of people whom you all know well - who are also taking the same majors as you. So it's almost like you're going to uni each day to check up on mates with common interests.

Furthermore, I won't be a student anymore so I can no longer buy half-price Travelpasses.

Yay, last driving lesson before my test. Will either be doing it Friday next week or Tuesday the week after. Just have to wait to hear whether my log book checked out okay.

Good luck! :D

They actually check the log books over there? Over here they just check for the witness signature and total hours. I know people who made up ALL of their hours and got away with it.

Oh, and I graduated to Green P Plates today! :p

P's?

I'm still on my Red Ps. :o I remember when I first went for them (at Manly RTA), I failed because I didn't see the Stop sign right outside the RTA. So there I was, cruising along the streets, doing everything perfectly, but the result had already sealed from the beginning blunder. Apparently it's a common trick the RTA employs.. gets alot of people. Oh well, I didn't fall for it the second time!

Mine doesn't expire until the 30th March next year, which is my birthday. What a stinking birthday present from CityRail.

Yes, I was rather peeved. I felt like unleashing a massive fart there and then before dashing into obscurity.

I scared my RTA instructor years ago when the elongated gear stick in the SWB ragtop 1956 model Landrover came out of the floor unit and was waving around in the air in my hand!!! the fun we had in the late seventies with public servants!!!

Thanks. And yeah, new Learner driver laws and all that rubbish. Made it rather difficult for me (had my learners since march 2006 but because i was slack, fell under the new stuff last time i renewed it) because there were that many loops to jump through to prove i had done more than the minimum 100 hours previously.

Then you have to send it away for two weeks to get 'validated' before you can go for your test.

Yup. There are a few similar tricks at the one where Im going for mine. But I have heard them all from my friends when they did their tests and know where the examiner will try and get me.

The examiners try and get you? In my test I thought he made every effort to help me pass. Maybe I got an unusually good natured examiner...

You are required to stop both before and after crossing the footpath/nature strip. Before, so you can see if pedestrians are coming and after to check for cars on the road.

They seem to do that everywhere. Down our way they don't even have the stop signs up to warn you to stop before crossing the footpath. Sneaky buggers.

It's the same at The Entrance RTA.

There is a Stop sign at the exit of the car park and a solid white line before the footpath. Most people fail to stop at the white line and only stop at the curb of the road and then can't understand why they failed.
