Mkay, remember how I said last week that I may have had some club photography work lined up? Well I got an email from the guy yesterday asking me if I could go around with him for a bit on Saturday night for a trial :D

Don't know how much use I would be this saturday night because I will be watching the clock as far as making the last bus home from the city (no way am I catching a cab after midnight from there to here by myself). Also because I have work Sunday morning...

Morning guys,

Sign of what's to come??
I just ordered a 50L two days ago from Cameras Direct, $1668 - but shipment coming.
Today they've arrived, and are selling for $2195....Ouch!

The other guys look like they haven't increased prices yet, but I'll bet any new stock coming in will have a sting to it

Me glads I ordered two days ago...

Small bit o tax... found this perty little critter in the backyard this arvo.

QUOTED IMAGE

Great - the colours and lines all work really well!

Jim, what is the best colour jel to use ( warming ) to stop that flashed blue look?

As Dave said.. some light CTO will work quite nicely. It's a good gel to experiment with - you can get some nice pleasing effects by warming up the light on your subject a bit more than the ambient... can make them stand out a bit more in some situations. Or totally blast them with CTO, white balance for that and watch the entire background turn blue...

I went on a spending spree before Nepal when the dollar was high, felt guilty at the time, but now I'm kind of glad....

Yeah... I did a similar thing and I'm quite glad for it now - to get the same gear now would cost me something in the realms of a couple of grand more than what I paid. So worth it. So wishing the dollar would pick up again :/

Hey guys,

Got a pre-formal shoot this arvo from around 4. There will be about 6 girls, their partners and their parents there. I'll be taking family photos, photos of them and their partners and then other group shots. After that it's just random candid kinda pics.

Anyone got any tips or tricks?

Andrew, Have you checked the weather. It may be raining (is now) so have you got a large enough space to take the required shots undercover.

Probs going to have to use the flash save for the candid 50mm 1.8 shots i would think. Maybe you could use the clouds for some texture in the background?
